The Belle Brigade – Losers

In songs on November 2, 2011 at 9:05 am

I generally dislike lyrics that are off-meter, but there are notable exceptions, including today’s tune.

The Gruska siblings (uber-composer John Williams’ grandkids) have much to say here, and it’s presented in a very singable form. There’s also a very nice dynamic build as the song progresses, not to mention tight harmonies delivered with a great deal of passion. The opening is reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel, and soon transitions into a more modern rock form that brings us to a cathartic finish.

One of the only things I like better than good meter is a good exception.
