Built for the Sea – Dreamer

In songs on December 1, 2011 at 9:07 am

Often the very fact of being an artist can isolate someone from the bulk of society. This can also be true of idealists, which I still consider myself at the core, even if the world and its behaviors makes that difficult. I still believe the world needs dreamers, if only to keep darkness from enveloping the species altogether. And I am not the first to maintain that in the absence of dreams, we have ceased being human. Here’s a good tune on that topic that I often turn to in troubled times.

This song is also a good example of a non-invasive time signature change. Generally those are associated with jarring prog breakdowns, but the usage here is more in keeping with the Beatles than King Crimson.
