Daily Song Study

John-Flor Sisante – God Song

In songs on December 12, 2011 at 9:39 am

I’ve previously mentioned my time exploring some of the Long Island music scene around 2004-2005, and one of the better discoveries I made there was an extremely talented songwriter named John-Flor Sisante. Though most of his best tunes have yet to be released (prod, prod…), today’s study is easily among the best from his debut album The Music of Things.

Here he takes a tender topic, loss of faith, and is able to examine it without resorting to cynicism, a rarity when dealing with this subject. The listener is left with a real sense of loss by song’s end, augmented by the excellent instrumental melody bringing the song to its conclusion.

John-Flor continues to perform under the name foxfur, and many of his newer tunes can be streamed online.
